What is a facilitator?

A facilitator is a person who is given some explicit role to conduct a meeting, or the person in question chooses that part itself.  But, what a facilitator do?

A facilitator main focus is assuring that the group has the effectiveness needed, therefore there’s some conditions to be established.

They will be part of the discussion that occurs in the meeting but that’s not their primarily goal.

Basically a facilitator helps to create the conditions necessary to everyone feel comfortable/safe so, in the future, the team eventually pursuit the objectives for which the meeting was convened.

If you’re interested in the matter and want to know more, you can read a good introduction to facilitation here:https://www.iaf-world.org/site/

Facilitation is a specialization of its own.
