What is an “Information Radiator”??
“Information radiator” is but a big visible chart used to characterize a number of electronic displays (either handwritten, drawn, printed or electronic) which a team places in a visible location, in order to allow the team members to get the latest information first hand.
The concept dates back to the 1980’s in the Toyota Production Systems, where the notion of “visual control” began.
the use of information radiators shows not only that the team has nothing to hide from its visitors/customers but also that they are very good at acknowledging and confronting their problems.
therefore it promotes responsibility among the team members and can spark conversations between the visitors that may end up in the creation of a concept for a very useful project.
